Past Simple

Regular and irregular verbs.

Regular verbs: se le agrega –d / -ed a los verbos para referirnos al pasado. Estos verbos no aparecen en la lista de los diccionarios.

Por ejemplo:

Work……..worked

Decide…….decided

Irregular verbs: aparecen en la lista de los diccionarios y pueden cambiar la palabra completa (go …went), una letra (come….came) o la pronunciación (read/ri:d/…..read/red/).Otros ejemplos. 

Be……was/were                        

 copy……..copied

Become…..became

AFFIRMATIVE FORM

I –YOU-WE

THEY-HE-                    WORK(ED) IN AN OFFICE.

SHE –IT                        WENT TO THE CINEMA YESTERDAY.

 NEGATIVE FORM

CON TODAS LAS PERSONAS SE USA EL AUXILIAR ‘DID’ + ‘NOT’(DIDN’T)

E.G.      

 HE DIDN’T GO TO THE CINEMA YESTERDAY. (cuando uso el auxiliar el verbo vuelve al presente, es decir si en la oracion afirmativa dice ‘went’ en la negativa pasa a ser ‘go’).

INTERROGATIVE FORM

DID you-we-they-he-she-it have lunch at home?

Yes, I –we-they – he- she – it did.

No, I – we – they – he – she – it didn’t.
